It is the story of Kunta Kinte, an African man sold in 1760 to slavery in America, and the efforts by him and his descendants to survive and prosper. 
The series is a History Channel production, consists of 8 episodes and includes many stars amongst its cast such as Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Laurence Fishburne, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and James Purefoy.
Nominated for 7 Emmy Awards and critically acclaimed, the mini-series highlights how many of the modern world issues have their roots in slavery and the slave trade.
